Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in association with the event," they stated.
City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
A senior representative said the vandalism rendered him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
